i hate asking favors....

and i hate to beg....

i don't like it when i get so dependent on anyone...... i hate it when i can't do things because it would depend on another person's availability or whether or not that other person is in the mood to help me or not........... i don't like being in debt with anyone......... i don't like "utang na loob" ...............it just makes me so uncomfortable that i would make someone go out of her/his way to do something for me.......... i mean, who am i to receive such attention............ that's why i try to make sure i do something in return when i ask favors from anyone.........

i pride myself as someone independent, i may have said that a million times and i hate the thought that someone has control over "some" things that makes me happy......... that i can't do something i really want because that person has the "control" and there's nothing i can do but sit, sit, sit, sit, effin sit and effin wait..........

and yes, i'm not good at handling subtle rejections......... i'd rather know how you feel about the favor rather than coming up with all kinds of alibis because that's a sure way to piss me off............. i'm not demanding and i'm not a brat and i know how to be considerate.......... just don't effin lie........... if you do, make sure i don't find out that you effin lied......

nah, it's not like what i used to have ....... this one just showcases my favorite photos and the published photos, so it's more like a photography portfolio.......

thanks to brian of international-red for transforming my design ideas to something visible, lol........ and for patiently accomodating my changes.........i was always like, i want a border or i want depth or i don't like the color or can you change the font? lol...... thanks brian, i know i'm a  handful, lol............ anyway, he made the template images, css and base html for the design layout and i took care of the contents which is a flash xml that i got for free....... but i  needed to read thru some API-kinda stuff and code some xmls and htmls before i was finally able to run my flash apps....... don't worry it's a lightweight flash..... it would load fast........... which reminds me, i have to reduce the photo sizes to make it load faster......

i'll be posting the link here soon but i have to do something on the welcome page first and i still need to really filter the photos i want to show there because i dont want it to look like my flickr site that shows just about anything......... so i need to really take time and just show photos that has a wow factor (that should be easy, i don't have a lot, lol).....

i think it happens to everyone as they grow up. you find out who you are and what you want, and then you realize that people you've known forever don't see things the way you do. and so you keep the wonderful memories, but find yourself moving on. it's perfectly normal.

i was at neshaminy mall yesterday with a friend of mine to watch a movie, hellboy 2, and damn that "cant smile wi/o you" song freaks me out big time, so corny....i digress...

so anyway, we had an hour before the movie starts and being the mall rat that i am we went around for a while....actually, "around" was just "kritters" and charlotte russe...oh yeah! charlotte russe is my favorite, favorite, favorite, FAVORITE shop! specially the neshaminy branch because they always have good stuff, as in ALWAYS!

so anyway (again)...before that we went to "kritters", it's a pet shop..... i never fail to go to that shop whenever i'm at neshaminy...... anyway, they have new puppies for sale and i saw the dogs that i'm dreaming of having...... there's cockapoo, there's american eskimo, there's maltese, there's a golden retriever (gawd he's really, really, really cute!), there's one that looks like my dog back home--the jack russel terrier and there's a pomerenian colgy wesh (he's on hold)....... they are all so adorable........ if i hadn't controlled myself i could have blindedly opened my wallet and have purchased one of 'em dogs........oh, i did asked how much they are, ofcourse, and all of them are $799 each..... yeah, that's a roundtrip plane ticket to london already....

*sigh*.... *big sigh*... *big big big big sigh*

my apartment is actually pet friendly and they have a yard for dogs but sheesh..... i can't yet...... first i need to get a car, oh, actually, i need to wait for my gc first, then get a car then buy a dog.......hmm... nah, forget the gc, that takes forever...car first, then dog..... oh, and i do need to add another $50/month on my rent plus i need to give them $500 security deposit and they're never returning it, ever.......

cellphone coma

finally, i got my battery charger yesterday........ i've been on cellphone coma for a week!

i should have gotten my cellphone charger last wednesday but the seller sent me a wrong one and i was forever sending them emails but they weren't replying.....so i went ahead and bought another one from another seller and like i said it arrived yesterday...... the grrr part is, the first seller sent me an email last night telling me that a replacement is on the way....what the heck! and i just mailed the wrong item back to them yesterday morning......i'm reporting them to ebay.... hmpf!

anyway..... what's important is i'm back to the cellphone world.....now, there's no more turning off the cellphone to save battery.... i only had my cellphone turned on every morning when i get to work, during lunch time and evening before i go to sleep when my battery charger died on me...... it was a good thing a friend loaned me his battery because my battery had 1 bar left last friday........eps! i know what you're thinking, why not just borrow his charger.... do you really think i'm stupid? LOL........ i can't borrow his charger, we have different cellphone model, it just happened that our cellphones use the same battery......

anyway, friends i'm back..... you can call me again! :P

cooking moment : bistek tagalog

i'm half tagalog and half cebuana.............. and i'm lucky to have been introduced to same dish but with different style of cooking........ like, if you remember my post about adobong-paksiw, some call it umba, some paksiw na pata......

anyway, that's bistek (or filipino beef steak) in that picture...... i dunno why it's called bistek tagalog, im guessing there are other ways to cook this depending on which region in the philippines you are from...........

here's the recipe:
2 pounds sirloin steak,cut into 1/4-inch pieces
2 tablespoons lemin juice
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
salt to taste
1 cup thinly sliced onion rings
1/4 cup cooking oil
1/2 cup water

Marinate the meat in lemon juice,soy sauce,pepper and salt for atleast 30 minutes.
Cook onion rings in oil until transparent.Transfer to a serving dish,leaving the oil in the skillet.Add the meat to the skillet and cook over high heat,stirring often, until tender.Transfer the meat to a serving dish.Add marinade and water to the skillet,simmer for 10 minutes and pour over the meat and onions. Serve with rice.

fine, i'm guilty...

i'm guilty of snacking on this 150 calorie (1 oz) bag of junk! let me tell you how it all started...... one day i was bored at work and i was craving for something salty........ so i trotted to the break room and i easily found my target, the vendo..... i stared at if for like 5 minutes browsing thru all the goodies inside...... there are chewing gums, pop tarts, snicker bars (ooh!), m&m peanuts (double ooh!), chips, chips and more chips and then i saw TGI friday's logo.... after washing my mug and getting some ice and water i went to the ladies room.....when i got back i have a bagel on my table..... it's from co-worker! he's a sweet guy.....

note: co-worker 3 gives me a ride everyday from work to my apartment because my apartment is just on the way to her house...... she's really nice......... and if she's out, one or 2 of my other officemates would volunteer to give me a ride to the train station......they're so sweet...... ok, just a backgrounder....... from my office i need to walk like 10 minutes to the bus stop and then wait for the bus to take me to the train station.........

me: because i thought i need to press "brew" first so i could get my hot water

when i was 10 feet away from the coffee maker...

boss: you didnt finish making the coffee!
me: you should have given me that tip after i finish making coffee *lol*

that's what's nice about working for a small (old) company........ everybody knows everbody and it doesnt feel like you are really working......... it's just like you're one big family, each with his/her own tasks to do but the environment and culture is homey........ i'm so glad i chose my current job over that other offer i have in minnesota.......... and to think i was seriously thinking of accepting the minnesota job offer because i know i would be working with a lot of filipinos there........ turned out this is really much much better........

it's true that i'm the only filipino here and my officemates are from all over the world--french, portuguese, from belgium, italian, middle-eastern (not sure if it's israel), chinese, irish, polish, black, whites, etc (pwera anaps, walang anaps dito) and it's really a pleasure working with them specially when they start sharing about their culture........ which reminds me, i need to cook some filipino dish one of these days, they are dying to try one........... any suggestion?
